This course will teach you how to help students enrolled in the Starfish Swim School blue stage to tread water for 15 seconds (safety benchmark) and jump in, recover to side glide and kick 3 metres/10 feet (swim benchmark).

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of this course you should be able to:

  • Describe how to perform sculling motion

  • Select equipment to help develop correct side glide position

  • Identify what is needed to effectively tread water

  • Identify ways to help a student develop the sculling motion needed for treading water

  • Define rotation and describe why is it important in swim skill development

  • Assist a student to correctly rotate from the front to side glide while moving
